Tripp is a carpool, not a ride service.
Every driver here is a student who was already making the trip. Riders chip in toward gas and wear on the car — that’s all.
Nobody is earning a fare and nobody is working a shift. That’s why seats cost what they do, and it’s why Tripp puts a hard limit on what a driver can collect.
Everything gets paid through Tripp.
Never pay a driver in cash, Venmo, Zelle or anything else on the side, and never arrange a ride outside the app.
Paying off-app breaks the cost limit that keeps Tripp a carpool. It also leaves you with no receipt, no record of the trip, and no way for us to help if something goes wrong.
Asking someone to pay or book off-app can get the account suspended.
Show up a few minutes early.
Your driver is a student on their own schedule — not a service waiting on you.
Being on time is most of what makes carpooling work. Repeatedly not showing up will get your account limited.

Most personal auto policies exclude driving for hire, and some exclude cost-sharing too. Confirm with your own insurance company that carpooling with cost-sharing is covered. Tripp. does not provide insurance, and we cannot confirm your policy covers this for you.

Held driver payouts
Trips started without a pickup code. The driver's share is held until the rider confirms it happened. Tripp retries on its own every 4 hours; release by hand when you have decided the driver should be paid.

App Check
Asks the device for an App Check token and shows the raw result. On the iPhone this is the only way to see why attestation fails — the error never reaches the server or any log we can read.
Notifications
Sends a real push to every device signed in as you — the same path every booking notification takes. If nothing arrives, notifications are off for that device.
Data clean-up
Runs every night at 3:30am and deletes records once the periods in the Privacy Policy end. Preview shows what tonight's run would delete — nothing is removed.
Legal holds
Stops a person's or a trip's records from being deleted while a dispute, claim or investigation is ongoing. Open reports and unresolved no-show disputes are held automatically.
